Welcome to Kayaking Adventure of Tennessee! We are the small local business (Just Eddie and me (Tara)!!) offering guided kayak trips to Burgess Falls in Sparta TN! We are so much more than a kayak rental, we are a no rush, all day experience! Come join our kayaking family and Experience the Adventure!
The Basics on our Burgess Falls Trip
Booking a trip
We do all booking online. We are both full time on the water ! I answer the pages before trips in the morning and at night after trips. (Thank you for your patience while I respond to everyone!-Tara) You must pre-book your trip and we book very early! We do one trip per day and have 13 spots per trip. We believe in one-on-one personalized service from beginning to end and we are here to answer any questions/concerns you have!
Parking/Meet
The day of your adventure we meet at our parking lot that is less than two miles from our launch! Its an easy to find location and we have signs up the road that are highly visible. Everyone will load up on our pretty pink and super clean bus for a quick ride down the road. Don't forget to take picture at our selfie station with Patches (our Kayak Cat) on the side of the bus!
The Trip!
We provide you with Kayak, Guide, Gear and transportation from our parking lot to launch and back. Our cost is $60 per person+Tax. We have sit inside kayaks (275 pound weight limit). We also do have two tandem kayaks available that must be requested before the day of trip. **We DO NOT allow tag along with their own equipment on our trips due to outfitter regulations for guided trips**
It's approximately a 2 mile paddle *each way* (out and back paddle) on a still water lake. No current like a river but you may experience waves from boats or wind. We are beginner friendly and provide a kayak lesson/safety briefing at the beginning of our trips. Depending on the time of the year you come, there may be a short easy hike or long strenuous hike up. It takes about an hour on our trips to paddle out to the waterfall and we encourage a very relaxed trip/slow paddle. We have lots of time at the waterfall and it's the perfect way to get away from it all!
We promise to always make you feel like family on our trips and we provide you with memories that will last a lifetime. We are both NOC Wildness First Aid, AED, CPR & Epi-Pen Trained. We kayak the area weekly even in our off season to ensure we are up to date on any changes to the area so we can keep you and your loved ones safe!
Important
While Burgess Falls has exploded in popularity it is very important to realize you're going into the wild. There are hazards in the water such a hooks from fisherman, snakes (leave them alone, we are the visitors here), plus there are remnants of two old powerhouses there with lots of metal in the water.
You will be required to wear shoes that are closed-toed on our trips (no exceptions) even while in the water. No Slides, flip flops or open toed sandals are allowed for your safety. We prefer tennis shoes that you don't mind getting wet for the terrain.
Drones are not allowed due to area regulations
Alcohol/Drugs are strictly Prohibited on our trips
We allow ages 9 and above
With our new shuttle and for the safety/comfort of all of our guests, we can no longer allow dogs on our trips.
Fun
Our trips have a family feel to them and we will work very hard to make sure you have the best day ever! We provide you with lot of extras plus ensure you ride on a clean bus, have fresh/clean life jackets, and comfortable kayaks. We have done loads of research over the years and have complied a fantastic history of the area that we give on the trip. We can tell you all about the wildlife, area and changes you will see throughout the year. We also have an optional, KAT Challenge competition on our trips to see who can collect the most trash along the way for a prize. (check out our KAT Challenge page for more information)
